VILLA PALOMA

Project type

Remodel

Date

2021

Location

Joshua Tree, CA

Villa Paloma is a carefully reimagined 1952 homestead, transformed into a soulful hilltop retreat that weaves together Mediterranean architecture with the artisanal spirit of Latin America. Perched on over four private acres, the renovation honors the home's modest origins while introducing refined structural gestures and handcrafted elements inspired by Oaxaca, San Miguel de Allende, and Tulum. The architecture emphasizes spatial flow and grounded elegance, using natural materials, soft plaster finishes, and expansive glazing to frame panoramic views of Joshua Tree National Park. Interior volumes are calm and sunlit, defined by clean lines, subtle textures, and curated interventions that reflect the creative lifestyle of its owners. A series of carefully placed outdoor rooms—shaded terraces, a yoga deck, a pool nestled among boulders—extend the home into the landscape, creating a layered experience of desert living that feels both personal and timeless.
